Forza Horizon 5 is one of those racing games that caters to both casual and hardcore players alike. Whether you simply want to race cars for fun or customize every detail from tuning and handling down to the brake calipers this game offers something special for every type of player.
The game’s greatest strength lies not just in its superb driving mechanics, but in the fact that there is no single right way to play it. You can choose to leisurely cruise along the beautiful roads of Mexico, or spend hours competing in online races and crazy custom events.
Some custom events are so entertaining that you find yourself wanting to play them again and again. In one event, players attempt to knock down giant bowling pins while eight racers simultaneously sprint straight toward them. The result? Utter chaos across the entire screen.
In some instances, races unfold amidst giant football goals, while in others, cars go soaring through the air. This is precisely what makes the Events Lab so special. It feels like the most exciting addition to the Forza series to date.

Story and Characters Feel a Bit Weak
The game features story-based campaign missions where you often find yourself racing against crazy things such as planes, trains, or giant piñata floats. These missions showcase Hollywood-style action, massive jumps, and spectacular set pieces. In terms of pure gameplay, they are quite entertaining.
However, when it comes to the overall narrative, it doesn’t feel particularly robust. The characters seem to do nothing but generate hype constantly, exclaiming things like, Wow! You’re such an amazing driver! or That was the most epic thing ever!
That said, since this is a racing game, expecting a deeply intricate storyline wouldn’t be entirely realistic. Nevertheless, Playground Games certainly made an effort to try something new.
An Open World Set in Mexico
The Mexico-based map in *Forza Horizon 5* is magnificent. The game world looks so stunning that, at times, you simply want to drive around and soak in the scenery. The deserts, forests, beaches, volcanoes, and dusty highways each offer a distinct atmosphere.
The map is approximately 50% larger than the UK map featured in the previous title, *Forza Horizon 4*. It encompasses 11 distinct biomes, each featuring unique weather patterns ranging from dust storms in some areas to heavy rain or blizzards in others.
While driving, the combination of the game’s soundtrack and visuals creates such an immersive vibe that you often feel tempted to abandon the race entirely just to go free-roaming.
This time around, the highways in Mexico are longer and straighter than ever before. This means players can truly push their cars to the limit and test their top speeds. The map feels perfectly suited for drag races and high speed runs. The game delivers a genuine sense of speed especially when you are tearing down a desert highway at full throttle in a supercar.
Multiplayer Mode
One of the standout features of *Forza Horizon 5* is its fast and seamless multiplayer setup. You can instantly join races, challenges, or online events without having to navigate through endless menus. The “Convoy” system is incredibly smooth, making it remarkably easy to participate in events with your friends.
The group leader simply selects a game mode, and the rest of the players are automatically transported there. However, one drawback is the current absence of private free-roam lobbies a feature that was available in *Forza Horizon 3*. The developers have stated that this feature may be introduced in a future update.
Game Performance on PC
A smooth 60 FPS is easily achievable, even at 1080p resolution with Ultra settings. The most useful feature is the automatic graphics optimization system, which automatically adjusts the settings to suit your PC’s specifications. This proves immensely helpful for players who prefer not to manually tweak every individual setting.
Car handling feels incredibly smooth, striking a fine balance between realistic physics and arcade style fun. Casual players can easily enjoy the experience, while hardcore racers can fine-tune the settings and adjust assist options to achieve a more realistic simulation.
The game is also quite robust in terms of accessibility options. If you enjoy racing games whether arcade-style or simulation based Forza Horizon 5 is an absolute must-play. Admittedly, the storyline and characters can feel a bit annoying at times.
However, the magnificent open world, smooth driving mechanics, engaging multiplayer modes, and endless custom events easily overshadow these minor flaws. This is not merely a racing game; it is a complete playground dedicated to speed, exploration, and creativity.
